What is LAVA doing?
LAVA volunteers donate thousands of hours a year to promote, enhance and revitalize Downtown Los Altos Village.
Our #1 Goal is to increase daily foot traffic.
We now have over 200 members that believe in a revitalized and energized Downtown Village. With every membership dollar going directly into advertising, every LAVA member is helping their own business, and helping other LAVA members. There is, truly, strength in numbers.
Whether through beautification or special events, LAVA is making it happen:
Formed the Downtown Revitalization Committee
Donated money to paint the clock and streetlights
Expanded the Thursday Night Farmer's Market - and again in 2005!
Introduced Outdoor Movie Nights- expanding to all summer in 2005!
Purchased new holiday decorations and banners
Produced the Taste of the Village
Produced Arts Alive: A Celebration of Local Art
Bringing in crowds and filling up stores and restaurants for the Holiday Stroll
Producing radio and newspaper ads that tout Downtown Los Altos as that "special place where traditions begin".
Working with the City Council, Staff, & City Planners & Chamber of Commerce
LAVA has been recognized by the Los Altos Chamber of Commerce, Santa Clara Supervisor Kiz Kniss, California State Assembly and State Senate for its Downtown Revitalization efforts, and, by the Palo Alto Daily News, Mercury News, Los Altos Town Crier, and Bay Area Parent Magazine!
The Los Altos Village Association is working daily to promote and enhance the Downtown Village. You can count on us continuing to figure out ways to bring more shoppers, diners and service users into the Downtown and to contribute to the community.
Wishing you success,
Nancy Dunaway
Executive Director and COO
